Mr Flatman remarked that several of the ratepayers had spoken to him, thinking the board were shirking their work in getting another person to see nfter the collecting of birds and birds' eggs, instead of the members themselves doing it. He wished it to be recorded on the minutes that that course had been j pursued on account of Mr Ollivier objecting to pay the members of the board. COMSESFONDIIXCE. The following correspondence received was read : — FromMrß. P. Wells, Gapes Valley, asking for tho road to be shingled passing by his section.— The overseer to report thereon. From MrT. Taylor, Woodbury, drawing the attention of the board to the bad state of Donkin's road. —The overseer to report nt the next meeting and JTr Donkiu be nsked for permission to obtain shingle from his land. If his consent be obtained, the overseer to call for tenders for a certain portion of the road. From tho manager, Bank of New Zealand, in regard to the fixed deposit, a resolution on which was passed at last meeting, and enclosing fixed deposit receipt for £1500. From Mr J. Sullivan, Pleasant Point, stating that he had received notice jv gorse. He had let the gorse cutting. There was a lot of scrub growing on the road which would interfere with the ploughing of tho side of the road, and asking tho board to clear it off. — Mr Sullivan to be informed that the overseer would let the work applied for by him and to have notice to clear the gorse within one month. From Hon. T. 11. Wiglcy, complaining of a lot of half-burnt gorse on the road between the old station and Raincliff. From the Hon. T. 11. "Wigley, agreeing to the diversion of the creek near the bush as suggested in a letter from the board of loth October last. — Tho overseer was instructed to convey the thanks of tho board to Mr Wigley. From Mr J. Greenall, asking permission to erect a gate across the road between his section and Mr Guerin's land. — Application granted on usual conditions, the applicant to be held responsible for all accidents that might occur there b}-. From tho clerk to Geraldino County Council, asking for a copy of resolution (and date on which it was confirmed) striking rate for tho current year ; also, the amount the rate would realise. — Attended to. From the same, enclosing cheque for £02 10s amount of subsidy received by tho council and being balance duo on rate collected for lt>Bo. From MrW. Gapes.com plaining re cat tie on roads being troublesome. — Attended to. From Mr J. Tho overseer's report for the past month was read and the following action taken thereon : — The Geraldine Footbridge —The overseer presented an estimate of total cost of extending and repairing the bridge and he was instructed to write to tho Town Board on the matter. The road diversion, Rae's road. The overseer to interview Mr Macdonald re transfer of land. The road where the Kakahu river had encroached on had been fenced off, and a few spars placed on the terraces to preTont scour. Approved of. Tho Orari river had encroached on tho road line above the bridge, and is now within a few feet of the road. The overseer to have tho terrace fenced off, and some spars placed in the river bed. The overseer to issue more notices to owners of land to clear the gorse growing on the roads fronting their sections. Tho slipatltedclifEis gradually getting deeper and should bo attended to at once to keep the road open for traffic. Mr Flatmau to interview Mr Brown ou the subject. The overseer had received and paid in the sum of £750 15s 4d on general rate account, leaving a balance of £232 outstanding. The overseer to advertise final notice. INTERVIEWS. After the adjournment Mr Brown of Bclfield, Orari, interviewed tho board on behalf oE several residents in that village, requesting that the ditch running along their properties might be deepened. The board having spent a deal of money in that part of the district could not see their way clear to expend any more till they received money from the Government. Mr Budd requested tho hoard to givo Mr Lewis notice to remove a fence he had put up on a road running between the board's plantation and his land. Mr Lewis to have notice to remove the fence. Mr Flalman spoke re ton acres being set apart at Wood bury for the purpose of a cemetery, and would ask if the board would take the management of it. Tho chairman remarked that the only thing to do was to create a Cemetery Board. He had nover known of a Road Board undertaking such management. The subject then dropped. 3IISCELLANEOL3. Accounts, amounting to £296 9s 2d were passed for payment. The overseer was instructed to call for tenders for pitching with stono the ford at Kuscl's Creek. The uiccliug tlion terminated.
