The contractor for No. GO having failed to proceed with tho work, tho contract was let to Mr Dowison, who has completed it. The overseer had examined tho ground at Milford, with :\ view of getting tho water from the creek by Colville's, without building a culvert across the Milford and Hadown road, and he found thnl by deepening a ditch by Mrs Moulton's section, at a cost of about £10, tho water could, bo got rid of. Mr Lre a»kcd to what proportion of this their board would be entitled. Tho chairman s:.id thut the Arowhem.a rateable valuation amounted to £10,552. Tho Temuka Eoad Board valuation was £708,000. Mr Leo suppose.! they would eett^o proportion of the mo.icy m hind. Tho Road Hoard had reaped special advantages from Arowhcnutt, p.nd he suggested Ihit. inaHdition to the pro r«i.i share of th- funds m hand, flint tho lioad B-.iard should forego all claims Lo tha inoin'v lying at Wellington (about C 3-3), accumulating on deferred payment sections. The chairman s:iid l.eforc tho deputation came m the Board had resolved to givo the new Town Board their pro rala shar.> of the en-li m Innd. Tho other claim, he thought, mint. he. left over. Mr T.en pressed that it bo settled at once. Mr Kdr.el.jr asked wh.t the Road Board would propose. Mi 1 ITivlmrst said that w-i? very easily done. They would give Arowhcnua £25 and have dono with it. WhiUt appreciating \r r Hayhurst's generosity, Mr I.co thought Unit woidd hardly he fair. The chairman said it w.vi for the parlies holding tin money to decide who should have it. Mr C.inavnn thought it might safely be left to tho authorities m Wellington fo hand the money to the, parties entitled to it. Mr Loo said 1113 Board had not soul m .my claim at nil for the money, ponding tho result of this application to the Ko.id Board. Tlio chairman did not think they could cmne to any nrmngviinMit lvspcrtinc '' lc money m Wellington. The Road Board would lnld to their offer of £25. The Board did not think it necessary. The motion was then put and carried. Mr Lee said thut nothing remained for them to do but to hivo tho mitter settled by arbitration. Mr Edgelor said Government would settle it. Mr T.ee paid it would ho plon*antor for all patio to have it nettled hy arbitration. Mr RdL'clor asked if the £25 was offered as a final srttlrmonf . Thi> chairman sail tint thoy offered it ns being the amount duo. from the mad board to the town board. With regard tn the claim of the Arowhenui Board, they took no cognisnncf of if so fur.
