Goutenoire, expressing willingness to allow n drain to he mudo through tho properly of St. Patrick's Clnin-b ; from the Minister 'of Public Works, stating tluil the Government is making enquiry with a view to finding work for tho unemployed on tho railway. 'Jhe clerk was instructed to reply to Mr Edwards m terms of tho Impounding Act. Resolved—" That Harrii street ha shingled and channels cleaned nnd footpaths shingled from Manse street to Mill Road." Thisre3olution was opposed by Councillors Sinclair, Dugdalc, Ham-on, and Jonc?, and was carried, by tho casting vote of the Mayor. A Works Committee consisting of Councillors Cameron, Sinclair, Collet!, and Wat'a Win appointed. Councillors Evans, Harrison, Dnsdali 1 , Mitchell and Junes were appointed a oinmilt'e to manage the Public Library. Councillors Cameron, Jo.vm, nnd Mitchell were appointed a iU-Fervcs Cominirt'-e.
