o THE OFFICIAL ENQUIRY. (By Teleqbaph.) Nelson, Oct. 4. The enquiry into the -wreck of the ss. liyttelton was held to-day, before Mr O. Curtis, the Resident Magistrate, and Captain Robinson, Naulical Assessor. The court found that the steamer was wrecked upon a sunken rock m the current basin on the 30th September last, but that theevidenco fails to fi i the precise locality of the accident; that the disaster does not appear to bo attributable to want of care or seamanship on the part of the master or the officers of the vessel. The certificates of Captain Forbes, and of the other officers, were returned. It was stated m evidence that if a beacon were erected on the Beef Barrels, there would be no danger of vessels running on them, and the court was asked to recommend the erection of such beacon. The Collector of Customs undertook to represent tho matter to Government.
