VOLUNTEER ENCAMPMENT.
| (By Telegraph.) Kbw Plymouth, Sept. 17. Colonel Bir George Whitmore has been bu<y visiting different spots m this district for holding the Easter encampment on. He appears most pleased with a spot at Omatn, where the battle of Waireka was fought with the natives m 1860, trie first engagement m which the colonial volunteers were under fire. There is a hill from which the whole of the movements of tho forces could bo witnessed, and tho spot is not more than a milo from tho railway terminus and tho harbor.
