HIS HONOR DECLINES.
(By Telegraph.) CHBiBTcnuBCH, Sept. 17. A curious application was made to His Honor Mr Justice Johnston m Banco to-day. This was for an order, tho applicant being the Minister for Public Works, for nn injunction prohibiting His Honor himself from sitting on a compensation case to be brought againet the department by Mr J. McLean, of Ashburton. His Honor declined to adjudicate m the matter, and advised Mr Joynt, who represented the Minister, to make his application either at Dunedin or at Wellington.
