FEARFUL AND FATAL ACCIDENT.

(By Telegraph.) Dunedin, July 27. On Saturday evening Wm. Law, a tunnel man, working on the Otago Central Railway for the past ten months, lost his lifo by falling over a precipice near where Burewood Creek emplies into the Taieri River. On Sunday he was drinking at several tly-grog shanties at Seep Stream, and was seen going towards his home at Flat. Stream, four miles distant, at about six m the evening. Yesterday morning Henry Clark, while riding along, noticed the body at the foot of the cliff. The track deceased took ii a most dangerous one at certain points, especially m tho night timo. His footsteps wero traced to the spot where he stumbled and fell, headlong apparently, for his head was much disfigured. He fell a clear space of 100 feet, and then he must have fallen a further distance of 200 feet. Part of his watch and chain was banging to his vest, and on a search being made the watch was found where he had struck at the first fall of 100 feet.
