BLKNimsr, Oct. 24. A shocking shooting affair took pl&co this morning. A boy namrd Norman Winstanley, aged 14, son of a merchant's clerk, shot his brother, named Oswald, aged 10. Tho boys were both Cadeto' and ha i been at skirmishing drill on the previius day, and the elder had inserted a piece of lead into his carbine for practice at shooting at a mark. He wa« handling bis carbine m the bedroom this morn* ing, showing his brother, who was m bed, , how to resist cavalry, and had the weapon resting on the floor at half-cock, when it accidentally went off, and tho unfortunate boy's brains were blown out on the pillow, death being instantaneous. The affair was purely a misadventure. An inquest will be held this afternoon. October 86. I Another mysterious and violent death, baa occurred at South Dunedin. On Saturday ovening the body of a lad named Adams, about ten years of age, was discovered lying on a vacant piece of ground a few yards from tho main road with a bullet hole m his head i and quite dead. Search was made for fire* arms, but none were discovered. The parents of the boy are quite unable to account for tho 1 death of their son, and the police so far have ' obtained no clue.
