ADELAIDE.

; Yery satisfactory headway has been made during the past week with the opening development work upon tho coarse of tho reof north and south. On the north side, the hoavy rush of water has so far to allow driving upon the reef'b course to be resumed. The lodeis strong, but no quartz was broken down during the week. This drive has been advanced a distance of 42 feet from the crosscut, and tho leading slope ovor this level has a'tained a length of 30 feet. Colours of gold have been seen at each breaking. On tbe.south tho drive on the reel's course has been extended a total distance of 34 feet. Tho reof in this face has narrowed in of late, but may again op"n out as the work advances. It will thus be sren that there is a total length of 76 feet opened up on the line of reef.

, SYBIL, The advancement of tho crosscut from the Pboaoix Company's boundirj; into the above mine for tho purposo of intersecting the Pboaoix reef has been advanced atotal distanceof 70 feet, through a splendid class of country for gold. The excavation works are being energetically carried on; the foundation material is being rapidly curled on to (ho site, and the works generally are proceeding satisfactorily. MAHABA ROYAL (lani). The work in hand in this company's mino is being steadily adv.!ucfd, and every effort is made to put the mine in a thorough developed ntnto, so that when the mill is eicjtod the various levels upon the couree of the roef will o:ionnd all bo in a condition to produce a general output of ore to keep the mill in continuous employment. So far hs thoso developments havo advanced the regularity of the lode and of its i gold proiucing qualities are fully established. From tho intermediate level tho drive in progress upon the north course of the reef has been extended a total distance of 110 feet, the reef throughout showing gold very frequently, whilst its general dimensions would measure from 2 feet to 3 feet in thiokness. This north drive is boing advanced with 3 shifts of hands. The object in pushing on with this work is for the express perpose of advancing the level forward to whore it will ultimately conneot with the low level, which will be driven from tho north-east sido of the mine, From hero a further connection will bo made with the tramroad to the company's 10 stamp mil'. In the south side of the cro-scut the reef has increased its dimensions to fully 4 feet, the oro showing told, nnd the full width of the lode is looked upon as good battery stone,

A piivate oablo received from London yesterday points to au improvement on ihid market for shares in NowZeulaud Mining Companies. Tararu Creek shares 7s 6d paid up, were quoted buyers 8< Cd, while for Waitekauri Uniteda there was 17s 6d premium offered on paid up shares. HARPOFTABA. A meeting of shareholders in the Harp of Tara Goldmining Company wos held in the Mining Exchange Rooms, Queenstreet, when various items of interest in connection with this mino were discusse'd, omemt them being the proposed extension of option. It was suggested that this meoing l be in favour of extension provided that a representative of the shareholders bo allowed to visit the mine any time during the currency of option.

Before ono o'o'ook tho demand was so strong that paid up shares sold as high as 5s Bd, and contributing at 'Is.
