NEW WHAU. The manager roports: -" During the past week tho low lovel drive has beon standing idle, and six men have been engaged ot tho Middle Star tunnel, outting a chamber and making all thinns ready for the sinking of a winze tc ventilate the low levol, Tho chamber is now completo and a start mado with |he winze. There are only two meu now engaged in the Middle Star drive as tho other two are working at the winze. Tho reef there is mnoh tho same as last reported, only we are not taking ns much of the reef with us, as it being hard made the progress too slow.—Thos. Eadford." CLUNES. The manager reports:— •■ Driving has been carried on here ns usual, and I am pleased to say that within ihe last few days a great change has taken place in the reef and an improvement, I hope, for the better. There is the beat looking reef now in tho face that I have seen since wc commenced to drive on it, and a large flow of woter is now'coraing from the lace. I think wo will veiy soon drain the top level. We huve still about 100 or 150 (eet to drive io got whero the gold was obtained in tho lop lwl, but I think thero is every | mbiibility ol our i;elling it before w->drive tint distmo as the ruu of gold dips lownrdi us in the drive wc a< e now on,-Tnos.
