Wellington, March 2. '• Tqe Land Board and Land Department have come into collision over the question; of converting a special settlement lease* into a lea.se in perpetuity. The Isard decided this could bo done, but the Under-Secretarjr wrote that the Act of ! 1892 did not appear to provide for it; Several members said thiis was a contradiction of what the Minister had ruled. He had more than once told them that village settlers undoubtedly had the right of conversion, The Board finally determined fo adhere to their decision, as the Act made them the sole judge of •
