MINING MATTERS.
Una,—The gold resulting from the Una Company's retorting was melted yesterday to a bar weighing 28ozs lOdwt. This was the result of an interim retorting after 90 tons of stuff had been put through.
Tairua,—The gold brought down on Saturday as the result of. the fortnight's crushing for tbo Tairua Company was molted yestorday at the Bank of New Zealand toabar weighing4oozs 3dwts.
Wksi Coast Tdibctk.—Cleaning up and retorting for Weatherall. uud party, tributcrs of the West Coast mine, took place yesterday at the Waiotahi battery, after 100 tons of stone had been reduced.The yield was a [good payable ono, amounting to 115ozs 17dwts melted gold, '■■ Qoeen op Bebuti.—This company's gold was melted'yestorday at the Bank of New Zealand. The loss was trivial, and the return aftor melting was 4140zs 7dwts gold, out of which a handsomo dividend will be declared to-day.'
Old Whau.—A nico parcel of specimens from tho Old Whau mine came to hand yesterday. As our readers are aware, the Alburnia specimen leader was intersected a few weeks ago in the company's mine, and upon tbis the manager is at present pushing forward operations opening it up for stoping. Gold has been frequently visible in it, and yesterday 201bs of nice specimens and picked stone came to hand from it.
