That we have explored the country, and havo blazed a ; track which will be available to us both as an_ordinury road and for the transit of machinery, the distance being from seven to eight miles from tho landing at Paeroa township. That we are informed that it has been urged upon your Honor to make the read to the Waitekauri through Mackaytown; that we object to such road as being double the length of the blazed track—fourteen miles—and as not being so available to us for any purpose as tho blazed track. We therefore most respectfully pray that your Honor will be pleased to.cause the blazed track to be adopted for the line of road to Waitekauri, and that it may be made available to us for traffic, so as to take advantage of the dry season for hauling tho maohinery necessary to the .erection of the required batteries for the reduction of. the quartz.—We are your Honor's most obedient servants," &c.
; . •' The Welcome men intended to send a ton of quavtz to the .Thames as a test, bat in consequence of some shares, being applied for in the Warden's Court they will not send it till tho cases are settled, This jumpng is causing a deal of ill feeling here, which in much to be regretted. It is generally the hard working prospectors who suffers they are a olass of men more remarkable for patient persevering work than for understanding the legal intricacy, of goldfield regulations, so that when they get payable gold they often leave" a loophole for Mr Jumper, who understands law, or has cheap legal advioe, and has a holy horror of work. He. lodges a plaint, puts the shareholders'to a lot of trouble and expense; and if defeated, has nothing to lose, while he. stands a chance of getting :a share,.or 10s a day expenses; but if ho had to deposit: £10 before lodging -a plaint wo would not have so many voxatious Court oases.-
