' Auckland, Friday. The first cases of imprisonment under the Education Act took place yesterday, when Mr Ansell, of the Three Kings, and Mr McDermot, of Panmure, were committed lo Mount Eden for seven days. Five warrants have been sent down to the Thames. Georgo Spinks, formerly in the employ of Mr Bead, timber merchant, at the Thames, was sent to the Whau Asylum as a lunatio this morning. He was very excitablo in tho station-house, calling himself Napoleon Bonaparte, and making extravagant promises of the doctors and every ono else. Alfred Buckland was fined 5a and costs for driving scabby sheep through a public thoroughfaro. Thompson and Wilson were remanded to-day for attempting to pass bad money, a practice which is at present very common in Auckland. The Star has an account of an eloping husband by the ship ' John Bonnie,' for whom his wife is patiently waiting in Auckland, having sailed in the ' Somersetshire' directly after him. The Devonport electors (Yon der Heydo's constituency) last night met.
