HUNTING.

NORTH TARANAKI HOUNDS. The North Taranaki hounds met at the homestead of Mr. and Mrs. 1 ■ Sampson, Sentry Hill, on Thursday afternoon. The weather was very favourable and there was a good attendance of followers and spectators-. The country had been well spared and il ere were some excellent jumping, notwithstanding the fact that there were one of two spills during the afternoon. All the country from the homestead to the main road was traversed hut hares were very scarce, one was driven from cover near the Maori pah and led the hounds a short clia-se before gomg into prohibited country, when the pack had to be called off. hater in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Sampson in their usual hospitable manner entertained tho members of the hunt and their friends to afternoon tea, which was very keenly appreciated. Mr. A. H. Haicombe, master, in a few appropriate remarks expressed the thanks ot the hunt to Mr. and Mrs. Sampson, and its appreciation for the support and kindness they had always extended.
