Private advice was received in Wellington on Thursday of the death at Home of the Hon. Ethie Plunket, youngest daughter of Lord and Lady Plunket, aged 12 years. The cause ot death was meningitis. The death occurred this morning of Mr. W. Elliott, who for some years past has been in the employ of Messrs. Ambury Bros. The deceased had been indisposed for four or five weeks, but was able a few days ago to come into town for a While. Early this morning, however, he had a heart seizure, which proved fatal. He leaves a widow and 11 children. The Rev. Father James Patterson, who died at Takapuna on Tuesday night, was known -throughout New Zealand, and was much esteemed for his fine work and his genial qualities. He was born in England over VO years ago, and had been in the Dominion lor over 30 years. He came out here on behalf of the Maori missions,- and was most successful a® a collector in tnis respect. Later, he took charge of .the parish of Palmerston North, and laboured thebe among his flock for several years, earning the love and devotion of all. He was well known m the Wellington district during that period. While at Palmerston the late priest built St. Patrick’s Church there. Later he went to Auckland, where he was administrator. During his period of service in that diocese Father latterson accompanied the' late Bishop Lenihan on his last trip to Rome. After ms return he was in charge of the parish at Parnell. Later he retired, owing to his advanced age, and had since lived at Takapuna, where he occupied a residence by the seashore. The late pnest was an accomplished musician, and was much sought after in musical circles.
