FRANKLEY AND CARRINGTON ROADS.

FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT. May I. The householders’ annual meeting last .Monday night wont off very quietly, only about twelve householders being present. Jt seems a pity that parents and settlers do not take a greater interest in school matters, but wc arc not quite so badly off as soma districts, as there are some where there were not enough present to form a committee.

Tho now committee intend to get to work ami try 1o improve the grounds, and there is some talk of putting down a tennis court for tho use of the children, and also adults. Last night a social was held in the Carrington School, when there was a fair attendance. Tho music (by Miss Bennett) was first-class. likewise tho supper provided by'the Indies. .Messrs. C. Gilbert and J. Shaw carried out iho duties of Al.C.’s. and the floor was in excellent order. There is a dance next Thursday night, when, given fine weather, a good evening’s dancing should he procurable.

On Thursday tlie remains of the late Mr. John (.cozier were laid in their last resting place at Tc Hcnni Cemetery. Neighbours and friends oil attended to pay their lasc respects to one of the Empire's veterans mid a most respected *scltier of the district. .Mr. ( cozier, who had readied the grand age of 89 years, is survived by Mr* s * Crozier and a family of grown-up sons and daughters, to whom I take tho liberty of tendering the sympathy of the settlers of the district.
