A PROGRESSIVE PHARMACY.

MR. A. 'E. SYKES’ ESTABLISH- .. MEET. During the past two or tliree years many changes hare taken placo in the. shop frontage? on to Devon Street and •among all the improvements effected none have been more universally admired than that of Mr. A. E. Sykes, chemist, which is of the most modern and which .would do credit to any city in Australasia. The window front is on similar lines to those being adopted by the leading pharmacies in London, and which arc designed by architects specialising in this particular class of work. As will be seen expense has not been spared, the window frames, doors, and outside show cases being composed of solid mahogany all highly polished and tho huso is _ composed of green tiles, whilst the entrance to the pharmacy is tiled in red and black. A Herald representative visited Mr. Svkos’ pharmacy this morning and found tho interior to be thoroughly 311 keeping with its frontage, the.furniture throughout being of the mast up-to-date and expensive nature. Mr. ■Sykes conducted onr representative over the premises. Tho dispensary is fitted up with all the'latest appliances for modern pharmacy and everything is so arranged to ensure convenience of the .dispenser- and absolute safety in filling, prescriptions. The dispensing of proscriptions forms the largest part of tho retail business as - thousands arc annually filled. All the drugs in the dispensary are standardised and purity of same is guaranteed. Mr. Sykes’ retail business has grown to such an extent that it - has been found necessary to confine same entirely to dispensing era! retailing of drugs, etc.; the packing .and manufacturing department being carried on at the wholesale factory’, King Street, Now Plymouth. Access is gained to the doctors’ consulting rooms by means of a special staircase with mahogany hand-rails. A. passage leads to the waiting rooms and the consulting rooms occupy tho frontage. The consulting rooms are fitted up on the latest approved methods, every consideration having been given to tho comfort of patients.
