HIS RELEASE CELEBRATED. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. PORT DARWIN, May 1. The fine imposed on Kirkland, editor of the Northern Territory Times, on a charge of contempt of court, was subscriber!, and he has been released. A procession of vehicles drove to the prison and escorted Kirkland to the Town Hall, where a big meeting was held to celebrate his regaining his freedom. The speakers eulogised Kirkland’s fearless action in attacking and bringing to the bar of public opinion the bureaucratic methods of the administration.
