WNANGAMOMONA AND KOHURATAHI NOTES.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) April 29,—A great deal of interest was taken in electing the various school committees in this district. Hurimoana hud the most .oxciting of all. There was keen competition and sad disappointment for a few who made sure of polling wpll. A notice hung np at the Workers’ Hall, Tahora, the Library, Tahora, and the Railway Terminus, Kohuratahi, is worthy of mention. ft reads as follows:—“An apple social .will be held in the Workers’ Hall, Tahora. The object of the gathering is to raise a fund to reimburse those settlors who suffered tire loss of a few apples from their orchards, which is alleged to be the fault of a few school children. Such damage will be. assessed by a committee to be appointed later. This is a purely philanthropic' movement to compensate settlers who ’were never boys.” Mr. and Mrs, Kennedy have left the district to reside in Stratford. Mr, Percy Long narrowly escaped a serious accident, his horse falling to the ground over Mr. Long, who escaped unhurt. Mr. Raybone, from the engineering staff at Whauga, has returned after ■upending a short holiday in the south.
