JAPANESE EXCLUSION.
NEW TREATY PROPOSED. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright; NEW YORK, April 30. Mr. Bryan is at Sacramento. Ho proposed that California should suspend legislation until the Federal Government had time to negotiate a new treaty. The Governor refused to agree, and it is now thought probable that the Japanese Government will appeal to the United States Supremo Court. The Cabinet has discussed Mr. Bryan’s reply, but no statement- is forthcoming.
ATTEMPT TO CAUSE TROUBLE. I (Received May 1, 12.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, April 30. Reports have been received of alleged negotiations • being made by Japanese for a coaling station on tlid Island of Concador, situated in the Cambean Sea, near the mouth of the Panama Canal. The State Department knows nothing of the matter.
