EASTER TOURNAMENT. , Splendid entries, constituting a record, have been received by the New Plymouth Club for their Easter tournament to be held for the first time o.i their new 18-hole course at.Waiwakaiho. Caretaker Bennett and a staff of men have been busy this week getting the course in order. Owing to the recent northerly • weather the grass has made a phenomenal growth, therefore the committee arc considering the advisability of having a special local rule somewhat similar to that in force at the championship meeting at Heretaunga. The following visitors have entered for the tournament: —Messrs. Parkes, Fletcher, Saunders (2), Jones, Bates, Harrold, Lewis and Hole (Wanganui) Dr. Callaghan, Elliott, Welsh, Hill, Turton, Sutton, Stewart (Hawera); Seifert, Abraham (PalmerstonN.); M'Both (Waitara); Armitage, Ralph, Colheck, Meek, Cave, Cochrane (Auckland) ; .Hood, Pryde, M'Loan, Lewis, Power (Feilding); Taylor and , Paton (Wellington); Spence, Abraham, Thompson and Fuss-ell (Stratford); Coghill (Waverley); Gillies (Hamilton); Spain (Masbertonl Morpeth (Waihi). The time-table has been drawn up for buses leaving town each day. The one o’clock bus on Thursday will run as far as the bottom of the Mangaono Hill. Each day a drag will leave Ambury’s corner at 8.15 a.m., returning at 5.30 p.m. Li addition to this the 9 a.m., XI a.m., and 1 o’clock buses will run as far as the bottom of the hill. The fare each way has been fixed at 6d. The charge for a motor-car each -way will bo 6s, and for a cab ss, irrespective of the number of passengers. The Egmont railway station is within 10 minutes’ walk of the pavilion, so players will bo able to patronise the train should they so desire- It is the intention of the club to provide lunch at future tournaments, but- this year players are requested to make their own arrangements ns formerly, but tea, however, for lunch will he obtainable at 3d, and afternoon tea 6d. The committee will be glad if any members who are unable to play will- offer to caddy for the visitors, and thereby help in making the tournament a success.
