Heed, of Dunedin, and after the scheme had been thoroughly explained the conference resolved to recommend all schools within its jurisdiction to adopt the graded lessons. AVhittingtou of the use of the sand table and board, the practical demonstrations proving of great interest. The convention meets again to-morrow. HOSPITAL BOARDS’ CONFERENCE CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 26. At a meeting of tiie North Canterbury Hospi.al and Charitable Aid Board it was stated that a large number of similar boards in the Dominion bud written approving the proposed conlercncc oi hoards. Dr. Valintine, who was present, suggested that (he coulereneo be held next June, and, in reply to a question, slated that the Government would probably convene it. It was agreed to bold the conference as suggested, and to ask the Government to convene it. SETTLEMENT OF ACCOUNTS. CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 26. The North Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board decided to-day to pay the Ashburton Hospital Board £1350 in full satisfaction of the claims of the last-mentioned board on the united board which previously administered charitable aid in North Canterbury and Ashburton. CHOPPING COMPETITION. GREYAIOUTH, Oct. 27. The State Collieries sports committee are including in the Xmas programme a handicap chopping competition for £IOO, the largest prize over offered in the Dominion.
