The South African cricketers arrived in excellent health and keen to begin their tour. They wore welcomed by the Cricket Association. Sherwell, the captain, replying to tho welcome, said that with the single exception of Gordon it was a white team, and the most representative and tho best that had ever loft South Africa. FIXTURES POSTPONED. Tho cricket season in North Taranaki was to have openod to-day, but all matches have been postponed on account of the heavy rain and the state of the grounds. Tho fixtures Will merely bo put forward a week. SATURDAY COMPETITION. The team to represent the United Service Club in their match against the Law team on Saturday next, to be played on the South Road ground, will be chosen from the following;—Wood, Bowles, Osborne, Sullivan, Dinniss, Hoby, Bocock, Girling, Napier, Reid, Bollinger, MTsaac, AViggs, and Mackay, jun. Any of tho above unable to attend arc requested to notify tho secretary as early as possible. Owing to tho Tuknpa wicket not being quite ready the match Law v. United Service will bo played on the South Road ground on Saturday, play to commence at 2.15 p.m. sharp. The following will represent tho Law C.C. ; Lawny, Turnbull, Bewloy, Lash, Greatbateh, Elliott, Hill, Clapham, Newell, MTsaac, and Harding.
