NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. Tim annual meeting of tho New Plymouth Swimming Cluo was hold at tne Town Hall on Saturday evening, Air. 11. Stocker occupying the chair. ANNUAL REPORT. Tho annual report was as follows: “Your committee lias to report a successful season as regards sporty and, taking all things into consideration, a very fair financial one. During the season a large amount was spent in meeting the previous year’s liabilities, and that, together with tho lack of patronage, accounts for the credit balance of sixpence only. Some promising young swimmers have boon brought out, mainly through tho agency or the soven-a-sido relay competitions. Tho points prize lor sweepstake races was won by Mr, S. Hawke, with Air. G. J. Hawkins second. These races created a good deal of healthy rivalry, and we hope to, see them continued. The water polo competitions provided the best games and keenest rivalry since .the opening of the competitions. East Enel were again successful in retaining their hold on the shield, and have now won it seven years in succession. The Beach team won the relay competition. Mr. James Smith presented a silver cup to tho club lor a one-mile championship. Mr. E. Pfankuch won tho event, and holds tho cup for the year. Tho distance swimming by children attending the AVest End School was even a greater success than the previous season. The girls again did lar bettor than tho boys, distances up to three miles being swum. Life-saving competitions were also held. Your committee has to report that there is a,movement on loot to get tho Manly Surf Club to visit New Zealand. New Plymouth will bo included in the tour if a sufficient guarantee can be obtained.” The Chairman said the club had not ,a big credit balance, but ho considered they had done very well, as tho year had been started with a liability of £7 10s. Further, they had not received much support from the public. Tho report was approved, ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Officers for tho ensuing year were elected as follows:—President, Air. AV. L. Newman; vice-presidents, Alessrs. J. Smith, G. Tisch, and A. K. Watkins; club captain, Air. F. Turnbull; vice-cap-tain, Air. A. R. Standish ; secretary and treasurer, Air. G. P. Hawkins; lion, auditor, Mr. K. Webster (re-elected); committee, captain and vicc-captain (ex officio) and Alessrs. A. L. Dixon, C. Brown, A. V. Stohr, C. Fairbrothcr, and W. Lints ; delegate to tho centre, Air. AV. E. Atkinson; handicapper, Air. AV. Lints. Fifteen members were proposed. MANLY. SURF CLUB. Correspondence was received regarding tho proposed visit to New Zealand of a team from the Manly Surf Club, Now South AVales. After discussion on tho matter of New Plymouth being visited by tho team, Air. Standish moved that a guarantee of £3O be given, subject io that amount being subscribed by tho public, and that Alessrs. Dixon, Fairbrother, and F. K. Turnbull bo a sub-committee to attend to the matter. This was seconded by Air. Stocker and carried unanimously. COMPLIMENTARY. It was unanimously resolved to elect Air. H. Stocker a life member of the club in recognition of' his services in the past. Air. Stocker suitably returned thanks.
