Tho Education Conference adopted a motion favouring'tho extension of the school age to fifteen, and that all boys and girls not receiving full time in, secondary instruction or technical schools beyond that age should attend the continuation classes till they roach tho ago of seventeen. The Inspector-General hoped they would see other similar schools following on these linos. Mr. Alexander, Director of the Lincoln Agricultural College, drew attention to'the lack of knowledge possessed by some students of English, and weak, ness in mathematics. He favoured .continuation classes in agriculture. , After discussion on scholarships, Mr. Holmes (Hawke’s Ray) moved that all Junior National and Education Board Scholarships he abolished, but sufficient' travelling oxnensos and boarding allowances be made to perils attending secondary schools* at a distance or obliged to live away from homo. Tho abolition of the scholarships named was agieod to by 29 votes to 17. and the rest of the motion was carried on the voices.
