Francis Druce, who twice journeyed to England to try to establish his claim to tho Dukedom of Portland on tho ground that his grandfather was tho brother of T. C. Druce, who was alleged to bo indontical with the Duko of Portland, has died here. Mr Archibald Hodge, a well-known resident of Oamaru for many years, passed awaj' last week at the age of 68. He was a native of Edinburgh, and first came to New Zealand with the Royal Engineers in 1863. serving in the Maori war in tho Taranakii Tauranga. Wanganui and Waikato districts under Generals Cameron and Chute.
