JPot Press Association. , n DUNEDi:tf, Sept. 10. ■ A conference of football delegates frbm the various parts of the Dominion .opened here to-night, Mr J. , J. Roberts (treasurer of the New Zealand! Football Association) presiding. It was decided to make the following recommendations to the New Zealand Football Association: — That the. present system of . competing for the Brown Shield be abolished, and. that in future the shield be a challenge shield to be played for on/tfnes somewhat similar to the Ranfurry. and Plunket Shields, under rules to-be passed! by the New Zealand Football Association, the proceeds front 'shield contests to bo apportioned , as follows: — Five per cent, of the gross takings to 'the New Zealand Football Association, 70 per cent, of the net takings to the challenging association, and" 2s per cent, to the challenged • association.; thaiWinners of the present competition be the first holders of the shield ; that in case or any club or association importing a coach, the coach be permitted to 'play for, the club or association, no. club to play more than oneNOoach ; that School matches jbe encouraged; that a referees' association be established with headquarters in Wellington, and that all expenses he borne by the New Zealand Council; that payment be made to representative players for loss of time if funds are, available, except to players in receipt of wages while on tour.
