NEW PLYMOUTH FIRE BOARD.
A meeting of the New Plymouth Fire Hoard was held last night, the Mayor, Mr E. Dockrill, presiding. There were also ])resont Messrs F. P. Corkil!, W. A. Collis, C. K. Bollringor, J. W. Bonn, and J. Paton. An apology for absence was received from Mr E. P. Webster.
The executive members of the New Plymouth Fire. Brigade, at the request of the Hoard, were present. They stated that the members had sign ed to continue as a volunteer brigade, no payment in the way of salary to bo made to iinv of the officers or men.
It was decided to have the residence of Lieut. Boon, also ihe Kast K>\(l lire station connected with the telephone immediately.
It was decided to cm 11 for applications for tho position of secretary ai a salary of .£2o per nanuni. A letter was received from tlm Palmerston North Firo Hoard silt/costing a deputation should wait on 1 h<« Minister in ohargo of Firo F3oards to urge on him tho necessity of amending tinAct fspooiaDy in Him direction of nlJowing loans to 1»" granted le Xin 1 Hoards in I'miMo Ihom 1o ]>nrch;iho land, erect firo station-; and /( i < rally equip brigades. Consideration tii' the letter was deferred.
