f NGAMOTU CLUB'S ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of the Ngamotu Golf Club was held in the Town Hall on Saturday evening. Over thirty members were present. Mr J. Paton, club captain, presided. Tho committee's report congratulated the club on its continued progress. The season had been very satisfactory in every way, and play had, as usual, been possible for the full twelve months. The balance-sheet showed that the gross receipts roughly were £255 from all sources, and the expenditure only £223, thus reducing the bank overdraft by over £30. The membership was as follows: — Players — Men 53, ladies 41 ; honorary — Men 6, ladies 14, In the middle of thjß season the secretary of the club, Mr G. H. Morgan, had left New Plymouth for Suva, and the chib lost in him one of its 1 most enthusiastic players , and a valuable worker. The committee had asked Mr A. H. Glasgow .to, fill the vacancy on the committee. Mr { Paton had, carried on the secretarial, work.^ Mr A. J: Dixon*had been moved from New Plymouth, and in him the, club, had lost i another teen playef as well as a good worker. His place on the committee had been filled by Mr Walter Weston. It was satisfactory to be able to state that, although the club had lost a large riuinber of members, their places had generally been filled by newcomers. The club's second Amateur Championship Tournament held last Easter had proved a great success. It is to be hoped that this meeting' would become a recognised event in golfing circles in New Zealand, 1 as the local standard of play must be materially benefitted by the visits of leading players, from other S*rts. . Arrangements lor this year's tournament were in the' hands of a' sub-committee. At the last annual meeting, after a keen debate among the members^ it had bee^n decided by a DaW majority to ' charge *at the rate of threepence per <jup for* afternoon tea ' during; the season". • The innovation had proyecran entire" success^ the members ; almpstlsrithout exception preferring it to tfte old style. Of the £80 reduction in the^ojuexctraft the afiernobn tea fund had provided about £20. During tho season iseveral important improvements 'to the glinka had been made. The' major ity of the gp*een& had been treated with weed-killer, and it is anticipated 'that this season would see them greatly hnpfoved for , putting. i The balance-sheet stated the excess of assets over liabilities at £87 5s 4d.

Ob the motion of the Captain, seconded by "Mr -L. Hansen, the report a^d balance-sheet . were adopted. • It,, was explained in reference to the loss en the tournament ,t^aj> . the cost of putting the course in order had been charged to the tournament account and that part of ihe co.st would not recur.
