MR NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT.
At the Haymarket on Saturday a fair number of pigs came forward. Small weaners made 4s to 7s 6d, good slips lls 6d to 17s, porkers 24s to 275. Several horses were sold. . A two-year-old light draught brought £12, trap mare £14, others from £1 10s to £2 15s. Fruit land shelter trees made usual rates.
At the mart poultry sold well. Purebred cockerels made 2s 6d to, Bs 3d, pullets ls'od to 2s 6d, hens Is lOd to 2s, ducks Is 3d to 2s 6d,, turkeys 7s 3d. Furniture and sundries brought usual prices. Fruit — There' is very little business doing. Apples are selling at 6a to 8s 6d, pears 3s to 3s 6d, lemons 2s 6d to ss. TCattle— At Stratford on Tuesday mixed calves made 15s to 16s, 18 to 20 months steers £2 2s to £2 10s, store cows 30s to 455, fat cows £4 10s. In the dairy pens there was good competition for all young early calvers. Mr E. Death's dairy cows- — a nice lot — made as follows : August arid September calvers £5 to £8, later dates £2 5s to £4 10s, bull £4. Mr Browning's herd was not so saleable.. Prices were from £1 15s to £5, according to age and condition. On account of various vendors, forward springing heifers sold made from £4 15s to £6 12s. Those at the latter price were exceptionally choice.
On Wednesday, at Toko, Mr H. Schultz's clearing sale was well attended, and nearly everything sold at satisfactory prices. August and September calvers made £3 15s to £6 10s, later dates £2 10s to £4. A trap horse was sold for £30.
At Stony River on Wednesday calves made 9s to 15s, 15 fo 18. months miked 27s 6d, springing heifers £4 6s to £4 lls 6d, store cows 25s to 30s, fat cows £4 12s 6d, hoggets lls 6d, store pigs 12s to 15s 6d.
