Telegraph. — Copyright. (Received July 20, 8.40 a.m.) ZANZIBAR, July 19.

The Higher Court at Mombasa quashed the sentences on Captain Grogan and Mr Grey for flogging natives at Nairobi (East Africa). The Court did not order a new trial, as imprisonment had already been undergone.

(Police protection being inadequate, natives of Nairobi, British East Africa, insulted Several white women in March. Captain Grogan, President of the Colonist Association, with two Europeans, publicly flogged three negroes outside the courthouse, despite the magistrate's protest. Captain Grogan and four Europeans were afterwards imprisoned and fined for their action.)
