CHEAPER CABLE RATES.
Received July 20, 9.41 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 20. In the course of an interview on the question of reduced cable rates via the Pacific, #he Federal Postmaster (Mr. . Chapman) said that .with very little trouble -the cable rate's could be reduced for the press, public, and Government messages. Thjß Government was considering the whole matter, but nothing had been decided, as so many interests were involved, Pacific messages having to pass over other lines.
