Mr Smith, member for" Walton, raised an "Edalji" debate in the House of Commons, protesting against the cruel refusal of redress. Mr Herbert Gladstone insisted that the case had been sufficiently investigated It would, he said, be most regrettable to convert the House of Commons into a Court of Appeal. <
