The handicaps for the first-das* shots in connection with the trophy competition of the Guards, which will commence on February 14th, are as follows :--Ser geant Mesnenger, scratch; Captain Taunton, 3 points; Privates Oliver, Bennett, A. Humphries, 4; Sergeant Mills, 5; Privates S. Humphries. Abbott, Allenby, Harvey, 7; Privates White, Lewis, Bendall. 9.

Captain Okey has been notified by the Jockey Club that owing to their Autumn, Meeting taking place they regret they are unable to allow the local volunteers the use of the racecourse at present. ft is expected that owing to the circumstance the kind offer of the Recreation Board will be availed of for the week's camp.

The inspection parades of the town corps will, it is understood, be held next Week as usual

Circular orders have been issued from headquarters with regard to tho style of mourning to be observed at this time. The Taranaki Rifles have accepted the challenge of +he honorary members of the Guards to a friendly shooting match. The date has not yet been arranged.
