AUSTRALIANS v. NORTH OF ENGLAND, [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.]
London, July 2. -In consequence of the inability of tho Yorkshiremen to take part in this match, the team chosen to represent the North of England against the Australians at Manohester to-day is not up to the full strength, being composed of Briggs, Mold, Sugg, Baker, and Ward, of Lancashire ; Atteweil and Jones, of Notts ; Bainbridge, Lilley, and Quaifo', of Warwick ; and Pougher, of Leicestershire.
The attendance was small, the weither being dull. The wicket was pctft, and the Australians upon going in f&utid the bowlers had the upper hand. At lunch time five men were out for 82G.'ffen, c Jones,- b Bfiggfe .v. ... 0 Iredale, c Jones, b Pongher... «... 9 Darling, b Pougher ... ... ... 20 Troit, c Sugge, b Briggs ,■ 4 Graham, c Ward, b Atteweil. v ... 8 Donnan, Hill, and Johns are not playing.
