THE EGMONT HUNT CLUB.
THE RUN AT OMATA.
Some six years ago a few enterprising local sportsmen had a few hunting meets at Westown, but the sport soon died a natural death, and no interest in the pasttime has been evinced till recently, when the members of the Egmont Hunt Club notified their intention to have a few runs in the vicinity of New Plymouth during tho season. The first of the runs, which number three, will be held at Omata tomorrow, the course of fourteen jumps being situated on the farms of Messrs R. Clemow, A. Bayly, D. Penwarden and J. Hooker. Mr F, Watson states that the obstacles are average jumps, and the course on the whole is very good. The Master, Mr M. J. Goodson, and several Hawera visitors will arrive by train to-morrow, and the pack (in charge of the Huntsman) will also be brought up at the same time. The meet will be at the Bank of New Zealand corner at 1.30 o'clock, and the throw off will be about 2.30 o'clock. No horsemen except members of the Club will be allowed in the paddocks. Subscriptions are now due and payable to Mr F. Watson.
