THE MACKENZIE CONCERTS.

GRAND FASHIONABLE NIGHT. Mv Mackenzie's popular concerts have surprised the people of New Plymouth, not only by their Buc^ess financially, but the general excellence of the programmes k To-morrow evening has been sot apart as a drawing-room concert by the desire of a number of our principal residents. The songs and arias set down are well selected. "The Trumpet Shall Sound" ranks as one of the finest oratorical compositions, and will enable Mr Mackenzie to give full scope to his powerful voice and the dec lamatory verve for which he is famous. " Across the Far Blue Hills, Marie," is a magnificent song; in fact it would be difficult toseleota better for displaying pathos, passion, and power, " True till Death," and " Haine C?m oor Guidman at c'en," particularly the latter in which this popular vocalist is inimitable, will receive thorough and artistic treatments Miss Jessie Glover, of whom we have already written in eulogistic terms, is down for two recitals. The first is the " Death of poor Joe 1 ," from Bleak House, and by request " The Last Shot,|' a tale of the Indian Mutiny, founded on fact. In the former Miss Glover will hold the attention of her audience throughout its rendition, but we feel sure th& latter will receive powerful and dramatic treatment, and add fresh laurels to this gifted young lady. Miss Drew makes her first appearance with Mr Mackenzie. The songs are "Darby and Joan," and Sunthine and Rain These items are sure to receive justice. Miss Drew also takes part in " Tho Sol Fa Singing Lesson" with Mr Mackenzie. Mr Harry Cottier makes his re-appearance since leaving here for the south, and contributes two cornet solos " The Lost Chord" and a '-'Fantasia," besides the trumpet obligato to "The Trumpet Shall Sound." Mr and Mrs Milne and .Mrs Labalt will appear in songs, duets, quartettes, &c, while Mr D. McEinnon Bain officiates at the piano. With such an array of talent, and the seleot nature of tho programme, a large and fashionable gathering may bo expected. The box plan is now open at Gilmour's, and tickets may be obtained at Brasch & Go's.

A 'Bus leaveß Fitzroy at 7.15 o'clock, returning after the concert. Tho full programme will appear in to-morrow evening's isßue.
