STRATFORD NEWS.
[FROM OUR RESIDENT AGENT.] May 14. — C. E. Meyenberg was brought up at the Police Coi-fc yesterday before local Justices and remanded on a charge of cattle stealing. Boil was accopted, himself in £100 and two sureties of £100 each.
The Town Board held a special meeting last night to consider the annual balance-sheet. Tho income had been £791 8s Id, and the expenditure £553 9s 7d, the bank overdraft being reduced from £297 18s 3d to £59 19s 9d. There was however an indebtedness to the County Council of £251 4s 4d which "took tho gilt nff gingerbread" considerably. Rates (town and country fd each) bad produced £332 5s Id, licenses £213 10s, rents £48 8s Gd, profit in Town Hall £54 6s 3d. Tho sum of £239 6s lid bad been spent on maintenance and construction of roads, £59 14s on fire prevention, and £69 2s 2d had gone in interest on loans and overdraft. Administration expenses had totalled £122 12s Bd.
The weather this morning is gloomy and moist and unfivorable for the trotting races.
