HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met on Wednesday. Present —Messrs J. Bcllringor (chairman),McCullum, Adlam, Monkhousc, Canning, Haworth, Corkillj Peters and Major. Management. —Mr Moxkhouse asked the chairman a fow questions relative to by-laws under which patients in the hospital were controlled. The Chairman gave Mr Monkhouse tho necessary information. House Committee. —This committee reported, recommending tho list of requirements at the Hawera Hospital as furnished by Miss Tyers be supplied, with the exception of fenders and consideration of a dining-room ; that the back female ward in the New Plymouth Hospital be divided into two wards for private patients, and a |doublo chimney bo erected for the same ; that a rain for pumping water at the Hawera Cottage Hospital be erocted, the architect's estimate for which being £30; that no concessions be made Mr J. E. Wilson, contractor for furnishing the Hawera Cottage Hospital ; that the Board grant passage to two of Mrs Brown's children to the orphanage at Parnell; that the services of Mrs O'Donnell, cne of the washerwomen at the New Plymouth Hospital, be dispensed with, and that Mrs Brown lie put on the duty; that I. Jordan, of Hawera, be admitted to tho Old Men's Home at Te Hunui. —The report was adopted. Tith. — The Government forwarded correspondence relative to the title for tho Board's property at the Old Meu's Home, notifying that tho question had b9en referred to the Hon W. P. Iteevcs' Department. OpKnah-e. —Mr A. H.i Mora}", of Opun ake, wrote asking time to pay amount due for his late son's maintenance in the hospital; also requesting that the effects of his late son be forwarded to him. — The Secretary was authorised to inform Mr Moray that tho case was in the hands of the solicitor. Contract. — Mr H. K. Whittington wrote asking the Board to relieve him of contract for erection of gates at the Hawera Hospital reserve. — The Board resolved that applicant be relieved from his contract, that tho deposit be forfeited, and that fresh tenders bo called for the work. Consultations. —Mr Major moved that hospital patients pay the charges for consultations that may be held for their benefit. —MrPr/rn us seconded the motion, which was carried. Charitable Aid. —The Secretary was instructed to make application for contributions from Mrs Robinson's sons towards her support. The case of Mrs Shearer, of Eltham, was discussed, and the Board decided that if her fathor (Mr Webber) would supply a cottage and the family with milk that tho Board would make an allowance of provisions for the family. —lt was decided that tho Surgeon bo requested to sco tho child, Bertio Brown, with reference ,to his foot, and report to the Board after oxamination. Appointing. —The matter of appointing a Houso Committee at Hawora was deferred till next meeting. Accounts.—Accounts as appended were passed:—Hospital, £G-2G 3s 7d; Hawera Cottago Hospital. £8 IDs 4d; Charitable Aid, £G2 13s 4d; travelling expenses, JE4 17s Gd. The Board adjourned,
