LAND BOARD.

Present : The Commissioner o£ Crown Lands (Mr J. Strauclion, chairman), Messrs. Stock, He=>lop, Roy, and Hon. Kelly. Land Sales. — The land applied for since last meeting was as follows : — J. Farrell, sco 7, block 7, Upper "Waitaia, 3GO acres, 1. in p. — 'Agreed to. Transfer.— G-. J. Moundford applied to transfer half his interest in d. p. sec 14, block 5, Kaupokonui, to J. Mouudford. — Agreed to. Freeholds. — The following applications to acquire freehold of d. p. lands were agreed to : — J. Machray, sec 2, block 13, Opunake ; W. J. Green, sec 28, block 3, Ngaire ; T. Chapman, sec 30, block 9, Kaupokonui ; J. Gibson, sec 90, block 10, Kaupokonui ; J. Carmichael, sec 9, block 8, Hawcra. Sublet— E. M. Warnock applied for permission to sublet p. 1. sec 8, block 12, Huiroa, to C F. Giesen for seven years. — Acceded to. Explanation. — Mrs M. M. Tocker explained why she had not complied with the conditions of improvements on sec 1, block 8, Huiroa, and asked for an extension of time to January 1, 18 ( J5, to complete felling of 100 acres of bush. — It was decided that upon payment of arrears of rent Mrs Tocker be allowed to December 31 to proceed with the necessary improvements. Licen&e. — J. Stiller applied for his license of sec 54, block G, Huiroa, to be amended in consequence of 2 roods 37 perches having been talren for a deviation of the Rntapiko Road. — Acceded to. Freehold of Perpetual Lease Lund. — The following applications were agreed to :—: — H. Barton, sec 3, block 5, Kaupokonui ; It. Robinson, junr., sec 8, block 7, Kaupokonui. Instructions. — The Surveyor-General advised the Board that instructions had been given for the caveat lodged by the Minister of Lands against sec 22, block 4, Iluiroa, to be removed. Mortgage. — Two applications to mortgage were agreed to. Division. — R. C. Crombie and H. J. Alder applied to divide sec 25, block 15, Huiroa. — Application was acceded to. — A similar application in respect to sec 2, block 2, "Upper Waitara, was made by B. M. Murley and J. P. Paton.- Consideration was postponed pending receipt of plans. Surrender. — J. R. Harvey applied to surrender his lease of lea^a m perpetuity sec 14, block 1., Ngatiuiaru. — It was agreed to on payment of rent in arrear. Manaia. — The Chairman oi the Manaia Town Board suggested that tho sale of sees in the town, to take place on' October 3, be held in Manaia instead of New Plymouth, on account of the expense attached to the enipleyment of agents by intending purchasers who could not attend the sale. — It was decided that owing to the probability of only one or two sees being sold the oxpense'i of holding n sale at Manaia would not bo covered, and that therefore it is considered inadvisable to hold the sale there. Tramway. — Mrs (•). Brown applied for a tramway right through the Ngaire Block in order to reach the Pukengahu Block on the north. — The Board decided to inform Mr 3 Brown that as the land will shortly be in the market tho Board does not sco its way to grant the application, but negotiations should be entered into with the purchasers of the land. Redress. — The Clifton County Council applied for redress under sec 124, of the Land Act 1892, in the matter of the rates due by P. and C. E. Pedersen on sec 8, block 4, Huiroa. — It was resolved to notify the selectors that the section is liable to forfeiture if the said rates remain unpaid for 30 days after this notice. Iniprocements. — W. Jones appeared and explained why he had not effected the necessary improvements to exempt him from non-residence on sections 1 and 2, block 6, Egmont. He stated that he had been employed at the freezing works, and had been out of work some time. Upon his undertaking to commence the deficient improvements it was decided to grant an extension of time till December 31 to fell 30 acres of bush as proposed by him. Mangamingi. — Sir Gibson appeared before the Board with referunce to the prices of lands in the Mangamingi block, he having received advice that the Waste Lands Committeo had reported favorably upon the petition of the settlers for a reduction in the prices of the sections. — Ho was advised that no instructions in the matter had been received from the Government. The Board adjourned.
