UPPER MANGOREI.

[fhom odk own correspondent.] March 14. — On Tuesday, a deputation of three members of the New Plymouth Central Temperance Committee convened a meeting at the schoolhouse, Upper Mangorei, when about twenty persons including half a dozen ladies were present. Each of the Visitors gave an address which was listened to attentively, but some of the statements were so extraordinary, and the way in which statistics were twisted to suit temperance ends was so remarkable, that the majority of the audience showed their disapproval frequently. Several leading settlers spoke and defended tho publicans from the aspersions cast on them.
