(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) DOMAIN BOARD. March 14. — This Board held its monthly meeting in the Institute on Monday. Present : Messrs W. H. Franklyn (chairman), H. Brown, H. Clough, and P. H. Carstens. An application was received from Mr Burkett, jun., offering 7s 6d each per annum for sections of Town Reserves 73 and 85. The offer was accepted. TOWN BOARD. This Board met in the Institute on Monday, the same members as on the Domain Board being present. Inward correspondence was read from the Secretary of the Waitara Regatta Committee, asking that a holiday be kept on Thursday, March 15th. Mr Franklyn stated that he hod requested the business people of Inglewood to comply with the above request. From Inspector Thomson, respecting the local policeman performing the duties of Inspector of Nuisances. The request, he said, could not be granted, as it was contrary to police regulations. The Police Inspector pointed out to the Board that in many towns the Clerk or the Ranger performs the duties of Nuisance Inspector. A letter was received from the Rev. Mr "Wood respecting rent of the Town Hall; from the clerk of the Stratford County Council. Mr FrankJyn, a member of the "NVorks Committee, reported that the works allotted last month were made good. He said that he had inspected tht, nuisance complained of by Mr Fromm, and found Mr Julian's pig sty was not a nuisance, He pointed out the soap suds running into tho channel. Mrs Julian said she would have them eaitjdaway in future. In the same manner soap suds were running from Mr C. O. Smith's back yard. He also promised to have the suds carted away in future. A long discussion took place respecting the best scheme for erecting a larger Town Hall, but no decision was come to. Several accounts were passed for payment. The collector's statement for the past month was read, showing amount collected to be as follows, viz. :— January, 1894, in hands oi collector, £8 12s 2d ; rates, 181)4, £'J 5s ; licenses, 10s ; rent of cottages, £1 7s ; Town Hall, £4 17s Gd ; dog tax, £3; pound fees, 5s ; February 13th, deposited in Bank, £1 1 15s b'd ; February 27th, deposited in Bank, £J1 10s. The clerk was instructed to write to the Railway Commissioners respecting the footpath from the Mountain Road crossing to Junction Road. The following tenders were received for work in Richmond and Carringtonstreets: — Kelly and Hayes, £34; C. Tapp, £35 ; D. Todd, £35 ; J. Day and Drake, £35. Kelly and Hayes' tender was accepted. This was all the business.
