[from a correspondent J A puhi.ic meeting was held here on Tuesday evening to hear a deputation from New Plymouth on matters connected with the licensing election. Mr Wells occupied the chair. Mr John H. White explained, according to his views, the provisions of the new Act; and Mr Asher gave a short address. Mr Joseph T. White attempted to bring home to those present the personal responsibility attaching to each voter. No questions were asked, the meeting concluding with tho usual vote jf thanks.
