The warship Penguin has discovered a magnetic shoal near Cossack, the principal port of the North District, lying on the banks of a tidal creek some eight miles north of JRoeburne. The shoal is said to be right-in the track of vessels, and marvellously deflected the compasses from 50 degrees right to 23 degrees left.

At a mass meeting of Socialists and unemployed resolutions denouncing General Booth's Salvation Army scheme of colonial farms were carried, and the Government are requested to prevent effect being given to the scheme. Melbourne, November 17.
