TOWN SCHOOL COMMITTEE ELECTION.

A meeting of householders was hold in the Borough Council Chambers on Monday night for the purpose of electing a School Committeee for the ensuing j'ear. Mr E. Veale was elected chairman of the meeting. The report of the outgoing Committee was then read, and deemed most satisfactory, after which resolutions were pass d thanking the outgoing Committee for the way thov had carried out their duties, etc. The ballot for a new Committee resulted as follows : — Messrs J. Bollringer 55, E. T. Petty 55, E. Okoy 36, C. MacDiarmid 31, T. Ilempton 29, T. Brash 28, J. Asher 27, W. Collis, sen., 27, 11. Goodacre 20, and R. Snell 10. On account of Messrs Asher and Collia polling the same number of votes for seventh place, the Chairman decided the matter by giving his vote for Mr Asher. Messrs Bellringer, Petty, Okoy, MacDiarmid, Hempton, Brash, and Asher were then declared duly elected. The new Committee met after the meeting and elected Mr Bellringer, chairman ; Mr Hempton, treasurer; and Mr A. B. R. Fookes, secretary.
