MR. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT. At the Haymarket, on Saturday, pigs wore penned in full numbers ; bidding, however, was quieter, and prices showed a decline on late values. Slips made 3s 6d to 8s according to size and breeding, small stores 11s Gd. A good number of hacks were sold at from £1 17s 6d to £3 10s.

At the mart fowls and ducks sold at considerably under the previous week's prices, the former making Is to Is 3d, ducks Is to Is 4d, geese Is Bd, new potato s %d to Id, old do. 2s 9d per bushel, cheese 4d to 4jd, bacon (inferior) 2£d to 3d, sugar 2idto 3d, tea 13s 6d, soap 5s 6d. Cattle. — At Waitara I had a moderate muster of stock, and the sale was well patronised with buyers, and fair prices were obtained; yearlings to 18-months, 255; springing haifers, £2 2s 6d to £2 ss; store cows, £1 17s 6d ; 2^-years steer, £2 la. — At Waiwakaiho, on Thursday, the yards were fairly filled, and, contrary to general expectation, I had a brisk sale. Many would-be buyers imagined stock would be thrown at them, but fortunately this was not the case. Up to the present it is most the fear of what may be in store for us in tho way of drought than what it is actually. All classes of cattle sold well, and sheep were eagerly competed for. Calves made 9s to 10s, yearlings 13s to 20s, 15 to 18-months heifers 225, 18-months steers 27s to 30s, 2 to 2£-years steers £2 Is, some fine S-year-o'd bullocks from Mr Henry King made £2 14s 6d, for beefy £3 12s 6d, and suitable for workers up to £4; springing heifers £2 5s to £2 15s, backwood £1 15s, store cows £1 10s, bulls £1 to £2 10s; shorn hoggets 6s 6d to 6s lOd; fat sheep, shorn, principally wethers, 10s 3d. Produce. — Butter remains unaltered at last rates. The s.s. Doric, now loading, has at the laat'moment plenty of space, and probably she will take all stocks accumulated to date. Dairy farmers' attention is called to the unreserved sale of Messrs Malone's cattle and dairy utensils at Stratford on Monday, 9th December.
