fpER UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATION.] , The Hon. Mr. Ballance arrived at Hawera oa Friday evening, arid during Saturday received deputations on matters of local interest. The sub'jeet of main importance brought before his notice was that of the position b£ the native lands leaseholders. They asked for a modification of the regulations under which they may surrender their leases. A consideration of the matter was promised. — Mr. Ballance started for' New Plymouth yesterday, by way of the> Waimate Plains and Opunake.
