G.O.Trevelyan, who in March last resigned his position as Secretary for Scotland in the Gladstone Government, has been defeated for Hawick by a Gladstoneite candidate. Joseph Arch, the labor candidate, and Timothy Healy, Nationalist, have been defeated for North-west Norfolk and Londonderry respectively. Conservative candidates have been elected for the Liberal seats of Harborough (Leicestershire), Stowmarket (Suffolk), liipon (Yorkshire), Gainsborough (Lincolnshire), North-west Staffordshire, Hyde (Cheshire), Koinford (Essex), Penrith (Cumberland), and Biggleswade (Bedfordshire). Gladstoneite candidates have secured the former Liberal seats for Osgoldcrosd (Yorkshire) and Cardigan. Mr. Corbett, Home Kuler, has been elected for Wicklow by a majority of 700.
