LATE OUTRAGE AT KAWHIA.

A correspondent at Kihikilii, who is well informed on native affairs, writing on the Kawhia outrage, says — " The quarrel with Langley Brothers has nothing to do with the throwing down of the pole erected at Taungatara, Albatross Point. Tho pole was thrown down for the same reason that so many other survey poles are thrown down when erected on native lands for the first time. The quarrel with tho Messrs. Langley Bros, is, 1 should judge, a very trivial affair, arising in a great measure out of tribal jealousy. They have, from what I can hear, been taking timber with the sanction of one tribe from land of which the ownership is disputed, and so raised the opposition of other claimants. There is at present great jealousy amongst the Kawhia natives, Ngatitnahuta and others blaming Hone te One's tribe for the opening of Kawhia. Ido not think that there is any reason to fear serious trouble in that quarter.
